Exam
No lameness
No pain with stifle flexion
Very mild patellar tendon stiffness
Mild atrophy of the quadriceps
Very slight guarding in sit to stand - this means that Hannah is potentially not safe to run but is not lame at the walk.
Diagnostics/Treatment
Diagnostic ultrasound of the stifle
Shockwave and stifle for mild patellar tendinitis
Weekly rehabilitation therapy x 30 days
Outcome and Timeline to Recovery
Hannah was so lucky to have a savvy team. Her ultrasound showed that she had only a small amount of fluid (effusion) surrounding the CCL ligament but that it appeared to be intact.
Her patellar tendon was treated with shockwave to improve healing and flexibility. Her owner elected to pursue Anicell Stemcell Therapy as a subcutaneous injection vs surgical options.
Within 30 days had regained all of her muscle in her surgery leg with no pain in movement and without need for ongoing medications. Her owner diligently performs stability exercises with her three days per week + monitors her closely.
CBPI Pain severity per owner: 0/10
CBPI Interference score: 0/10
Maintenance Plan
She is examined 2x per year by her vet for signs of arthritis. I recommend Dasquin Adv + ECM for her daily inflammation and joint protection.
